Boy, the weather sure has cooled down! But I do realize that it is October and I can't expect weather in the 70's any longer. I think it's about time for me to bring down all the fall decorations from the attic, and I know what will happen once I go up there I'll see the numerous boxes of Christmas decor that will be brought down next month! That's when it really hits me: the numerous holiday events are just around the corner now...

As I glanced outside my front door this morning while enjoying my hot cup of coffee, I couldn't help but notice all the morning walkers down our street! I surely give them credit. Not only for the fact that they chose to make time for daily exercise, but for the simple fact that they are "up and running" so early in the day!

This past Tuesday, I had the opportunity to visit St. Clair Shores... a very beautiful town with very wonderful people! During my visit, I spoke with numerous individuals who are proud to work for the Lake Shore School district, and I must say that many of these employees had some great questions regarding their health. The subject of a person's Body Mass Index (or BMI) came up, which instantly reminded me that I have never really covered that issue before.

During my visit at the beach this past weekend, a gentleman happened to recognize me from a newspaper article that featured my 162-pound weight loss success story. After approaching me and verifying that I was the same person in the article, he wanted to know if it would bother me if he asked me a question. My response was the same for him as it is for all other individuals who have approached me with that same exact inquiry: "No problem! Please go ahead and ask away!"

Why is it that we "put things off" when we know we want these things done right away? I'm not referring to those instances when you need some time to save enough money in order to own the things that you want. I actually consider that good planning. I'm referring to putting things off that we want to get accomplished. Something that we consider doing each day but find a reason why it can be put off for "just one more day."

The other day I happened to come across an interesting topic on a morning show... they were talking about diet enemies. At first I thought they were referring to food items that are considered big "no-no's" when a person is trying to lose weight. But this segment was actually referring to individuals who were watching their calories (or changing to a healthier lifestyle) but refused to tell their friends and family members for the fear of sabotage.
